Seismic Design – Appropriate Implementation of the Overstrength Omega o Factor (12:30pm – 2pm Eastern)
This SE University session covered Buckling Restrained Brace (BRB) frame design, which is being used in new and retrofit applications in commercial, residential, warehouse, and industrial projects. The presentation covered how to design with Buckling Restrained Braced Frames and how to model BRBs in structural analysis software. In addition, the session reviewed requirements for BRB beam-to-column connection design, looked at layout optimization of Buckling Restrained Braced Frames, and discussed how to specify BRBs on a project.
