Seismic Design – Appropriate Implementation of the Overstrength Omega o Factor (12:30pm – 2pm Eastern)
ASHRAE Standing Standard Project Committee 90.1 – which is responsible for continuous maintenance of ASHRAE/IES Standard 90.1, Energy of Buildings except Low-Rise Residential Buildings – has released addendum av on mitigating thermal bridges for public review. This proposed addition to the standard restricts how concrete, steel, and wood components – such as floor slabs, shelf angles, balconies, overhangs, fins, parapets, exposed columns, projections, and penetrations – can be detailed and built. Insulation in walls and roofs will also be affected. This SE University session reviewed the proposed addendum, and highlighted the changes that will affect structural engineers during the design process.
Session Length: 1.0 Hour
