Seismic Design – Appropriate Implementation of the Overstrength Omega o Factor (12:30pm – 2pm Eastern)
It is important that the building model used in the analysis and design of a building accurately – or adequately – captures the effects of the building diaphragm. With an emphasis on semi-rigid diaphragms, this SE University presentation discussed the types of diaphragms identified by the Building Codes and commonly considered by engineers, reviewed Building Code requirements pertaining to those diaphragms, and provided practical recommendations on the appropriate modeling of those diaphragms in analysis software.
Session Length: 1.5 Hours
