Most people assume HSS members can only be connected to other HSS members through welding. While welding is an excellent and common method of connecting HSS together, field welding can be more costly and challenging. This SEU Core session, presented by Brad Fletcher, SE, of Atlas Tube, introduced several types of connection details that utilize bolts to accomplish field connections for HSS members. These connections included bracing, shear, and moment connections.
