During the June 2014 SE University session, Dr. Roger A. LaBoube from Missouri University of Science & Technology presented on Frequently Asked Questions About Cold-Formed Steel Design. During the presentation, he addressed a number of common questions and issues that come up when designing with cold-formed steel. Two of the issues he addressed are shown in the videos below.
These videos have also been included in the SEU Resource Center (available to SE University clients), to provide an “electronic library” of helpful videos and information for structural engineers.

In this video, Dr. LaBoube discusses the assumptions that are made with regards to Fy for cold-formed steel members, and shows why Fy should be specified by the engineer.
