In the December 2016 SE University Session, Structural Irregularities per the ASCE7-10 Seismic Design Requirements, Kimberley Robinson, PE, SE, from SunSteel LLC, presented a helpful flowchart to determine the permitted analysis procedure based on a structure’s seismic design category, height, and structural irregularities. This chart can be used as a quick reference to determine which analysis procedure is allowed by ASCE7, and which provisions in the Code will be applicable.
