Session Details

This session provided an overview of the application and benefits of post-tensioning in concrete floors. The basic structural behavior of post-tensioned members was compared to that of conventionally reinforced structures, including approaches for treatment of post-tensioning in analysis and design.

An overview of ACI 318 provisions related to post-tensioning was presented during this session. The importance of including hyperstatic (secondary) axial forces in design was highlighted, including why this is not accounted for by most commercial 2-D design software.

Session Length: 1.5 hours
