Session Details

This SE University session focused on an introduction to anchorage to concrete based on the design provisions in ACI 318-14. During this session, the speaker reviewed the different types of anchors that are used in construction, and discussed the different failure modes that affect anchors, including steel failure, concrete breakout failure, and bond failure, among others. The session included information about the conditions that affect anchor capacity, as well as a review of design models, and procedures to account for the geometry of the embedment and the conditions of the concrete. The anchorage design equation and its applications were also discussed.
