Cold-Formed Steel Design – Design Standards, Part I

Speaker:
Roger LaBoube, Ph.D., P.E., University of Missouri
Date:
February 8, 2012
Session Details

This was Part I of a two-part series on cold-formed steel design. These sessions introduced the structural engineer to the design provisions for cold-formed steel framing assemblies to include walls, floors, headers, trusses and lateral systems. The following information was addressed during these sessions:
*A more optimum cold-formed steel design can be achieved using the AISI framing standards.
*The AISI framing standards are developed for specific framing systems, e.g. floors, walls, headers.
*Cross sections used for cold-formed steel framing are defined by the AISI Product Standard.
*Shear wall design for cold-formed steel walls is governed by the AISI Lateral Standard.

Session Length: 1.5 hours
