Seismic Design – Appropriate Implementation of the Overstrength Omega o Factor (12:30pm – 2pm Eastern)
This SE University session focused on design considerations when specifying joist and joist girder systems. Topics addressed during the session were joist design requirements in codes and specifications, including sloped and canted joists, camber, and fire resistance. The session also covered live, rain, ponding and snow load considerations, as well as wind load considerations in joist design. A design example was presented during the session.
