Seismic Design – Appropriate Implementation of the Overstrength Omega o Factor (12:30pm – 2pm Eastern)
Floor and roof diaphragms typically play a key role in the distribution of lateral forces to the frames and walls in a structure. The selection of the type of diaphragm and how it is modeled can have a significant impact on the analysis results obtained.
In this session, important concepts related to the inclusion of diaphragms in the modeling and analysis of the structure, with an emphasis on building code requirements related to diaphragms, were discussed.
Session Length: 1.5 hours
