Seismic Design – Appropriate Implementation of the Overstrength Omega o Factor (12:30pm – 2pm Eastern)
Structural testing and inspections have long been included in the model building codes and adopted material standards in either imperative or suggestive language. Chapter 17 of the International Building Code (IBC) now includes testing and inspection as an imperative, and provides a framework for management of this process.
During this session, participants had the chance to review the requirements of Chapter 17 of the 2009 International Building Code (IBC), focusing on the roles of each project team member and the required submittals and reports. Information on where to look for local amendments, forms required by local jurisdictions, and guidelines for the Statement of Special Inspections were also discussed.
Session Length: 1.5 hours
