Guide to Understanding a Project Geotechnical Report (12:30pm – 2pm Eastern)
The method of distributing lateral forces through simple structures has been generally understood for decades. However, with the increase in the complexity of plan layouts, understanding how to distribute loads into and out of shear walls is becoming increasingly difficult. In this SE University presentation, topics included maintenance of continuous load paths to shear walls, force distribution through shear walls with openings, and in-plane and out-of-plane offset shear walls. Case studies using wood systems were presented.
