Seismic Design – Appropriate Implementation of the Overstrength Omega o Factor (12:30pm – 2pm Eastern)
Design of seismic restraints for non-structural components is required in most of the country While calculation of the design forces is relatively straightforward, there are numerous complications that can arise in both planning and execution. This presentation covered the design process for seismic restraints, the forces exerted on both the component and the structure, certification of components, and installation issues. After the session, participants should be able to answer questions such as when non-structural component calculations are required, what magnitude of forces can be transmitted to the structure, and what one should look for in submittals.
Session Length: 1.5 hours
