Session Details

12:30 – 2:00PM EDT
1.5 PDH

Speaker: Carine Leys / Odeh Engineers

Session Description:

This SEU Session will provide tools for efficient and economical design of post-tensioned structures with a focus on designs using a Finite Element Method-based solution, which is becoming the analysis method of choice for PT designs. This presentation will illustrate the benefits of FEM on PT designs, the considerations for an efficient preliminary tendon layout, and several of the basic concepts that are prerequisites for an adequate FEM-based solution.

After a brief summary of typical applications for PT structures, our speaker, Carine Magalhães Leys, will discuss code provisions, modeling procedures, and design considerations. The session will conclude with a discussion about the influence of finite element modeling procedures on results and what’s next for the industry.

Learning Objectives:

  • Explain design concepts for Post-Tensioned Concrete.
  • Identify important considerations when designing with Finite Element Methods.
  • Understand software input and its significance in the results.

Registration and handout emails for this session will be sent to SE University companies on Friday, April 22nd.
