Using SJI Technical Digest 11 as a reference, this SEU Session will highlight key points for the use of open web steel joists and Joist Girders in lateral load resisting systems for wind and seismic loads. The session will address commonly used frames, diaphragms, and bracing systems, and present common connection details, along with effective ways to communicate the design requirements to the joist manufacturer.
