Session Description

Structural Engineers are relying more and more on structural engineering software for analysis and design. Understanding the different options available for modeling is paramount in ensuring the best model is created to imitate reality and give engineers the best possible design. This SEU presentation reviews various methods for verifying the loads defined on models, verifying the analysis results, and finally verifying the design check made for members within the model.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand methods used for load generation and how to verify.
  • Develop methods to determine what to expect from analysis results.
  • Create a checklist to assist with finding modeling or analysis errors.
  • Review code checks performed by program and understand items that aren’t checked.
