Seismic Design – Appropriate Implementation of the Overstrength Omega o Factor (12:30pm – 2pm Eastern)
When using structural engineering software, there are many default settings, including material properties and unbraced length factors, that can have an impact on analysis and design. In this SE University session, Seth Guthrie, SE, of Bentley Systems, reviewed common software defaults and discussed how these values can impact the analysis results and design values. He identified which reports can be generated to allow engineers to review the material properties and analysis/design settings to ensure that the expected values are being used. Attendees also learned about creating models to be used as template files, so that different sets of default values can be used as the basis for starting new models.
Session Length: 1.5 Hours
