Seismic Design – Appropriate Implementation of the Overstrength Omega o Factor (12:30pm – 2pm Eastern)
The selection of the right seismic system for a steel project involves consideration of many important parameters. This SE University session covered an overview of the considerations necessary for making an informed decision. In particular, the requirements of ASCE 7, AISC 360, AISC 341, and AISC 358 were discussed. Different types of moment and braced frame systems, combined with a discussion on the various types of system-specific connections, were also presented.
