Session Details

Structural engineers have long employed approximate analytical methods to estimate internal forces and deflections in structures subjected to well defined load patterns. These classical methods, while approximate, provide key insight into structural behavior that can be used to check and validate more sophisticated models. This SE University session reviewed three such methods: the principle of virtual work, the portal frame method, and the cantilever method.
